Technical Information

Leicestershire County Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.

Compliance Status

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Some elements do not have sufficient colour contrast. For example, the homepage banner overlays. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum).
  • Skip to content options isn't available. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks.

We are working with the website developers to resolve these issues.

  • Some PDF documents published after 23 September 2018 are not wholly accessible. We aim to have all PDF's published after 23 September 2018 changed by March 2021. If you would like a particular document in an accessible format, please contact us using the details above.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

  • Some older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software. The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they're not essential to providing our services. Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Accessibility testing

This website was last tested on 3 September 2020. We did our own testing using the Lighthouse accessibility and WAVE automated tools. We also conducted manual testing exercises.

We tested a number of pages that included a wide range of functionality (including online forms) on our main website platform, available at www.lsr-online.org

What we're doing to improve accessibility

We will:

  • work on making all our PDF's published after the 23 September 2018 accessible.
  • regularly review the accessibility of this website with automated and manual testing.
  • review any issues reported by users of the website.
  • work with our developer to make improvements.
