Ready for or at School

Childcare professionals, parents and teachers, policy makers and regulators often interpret the term school ready differently, however there is general agreement that the term 'school ready' should be defined as children who:

  • can cope emotionally with being separated from their parents
  • are relatively independent in their own personal care
  • have a curiosity about the world and a desire to learn
