This workshop will be of particular interest to:
• NHS and non-NHS staff working in public health information and intelligence (PH I&I) and related fields.
• Those involved in recruiting, managing and developing PH I&I staff.
Participants will have an opportunity to influence the developing National PH I&I Workforce Strategy.

Afternoon Workshop (1.30-4.00) - Increasing the effectiveness of the public health intelligence function in the East Midlands
Given the launch of the National PH I&I Strategy, the reorganisation of PCTs, and new Government policies and initiatives, this workshop provides a timely opportunity to review current needs and gaps and identify practical ways to increase the effectiveness, efficiency and impact of the public health intelligence function in the East Midlands. Outputs from the workshop will inform a review of PH I&I in the Region being undertaken by Ian Bowns and David Meechan for the East Midlands Directors of Public Health.
