Report : The frequency and intensity of the fear of crime in Leicestershire

Date: Mon 22nd May, 2006

Description: Reducing the fear of crime has become an important issue over the last decade and will remain an important issue in the future. It is part of the National Community Safety Plan (2006-2009) and one of the key outcomes for safer communities as part of the Leicestershire Local Area Agreement (2006-2009).

This short report is based on previous research carried out by Farrall and Gadd (2004) and uses data collected by 'Leicestershire's Voice', Leicestershire County Council's Citizens' Panel. This research looks at the frequency and intensity of the fear of crime in Leicestershire. The findings suggest that, for people in Leicestershire, regular exposure to heightened levels of fear of becoming a victim of crime are very rare.
