Decile

A decile is a means of ordering data and then splitting its records into 10 equally sized groups.

For example, consider 20 values in a dataset and first order them into sequence.

e.g. 1 1 1 2 3 3 3 4 4 5 5 5 6 7 8 10 10 11 11 11

A decile is obtained by splitting the sequence of numbers into 10 equal parts, thus

e.g. 1 1|1 2|3 3|3 4|4 5|5 5|6 7|8 10|10 11|11 11

Thus the first (lower) decile contains values 1 and 1, whilst the last decile contains the values 11 and 11.

A District is the largest geogaphical area used by LSR Online. There are eight districts in Leicestershire: Blaby, Charnwood, Harborough, Hinckley and Bosworth, Leicester, Melton, North West Leicestershire, and Oadby and Wigston.
