Indices of Deprivation 2010, 2007 & 2004

Image of interactive report that displays deprivation rankings across the sub-region.

A series of interactive reports have been created to show the distribution of deprivation across the local government sub-region of Leicestershire, Leicester City, the seven Local Authorities and Rutland County.

The variety of reports cover geographies based on funded partnerships (e.g. County & City combined), Unitary Authorities and each Local Authority. (Rutland has been included due to the coverage of the Leicestershire PCT and Police North BCU).

Each report allows deprivation distributions to be viewed in relation to that specific base geography and in relation to the East Midlands and England as a whole.

The reports have taken all the LSOAs across their respective geographies and placed their national ranking into quartiles. This is designed to show the most deprived (lowest 10%) and the least deprived ( highest 10%), in that specific geography.

The deprivation data is provided at Lower Super Output Area level (LSOAs) which each have between 1,000 and 3,000 people living in them, with an average population of 1,500 people. Every LSOA across England (32,482) was given a relative ranking for each deprivation domain. There are ten domains of deprivation avilable in the reports:

  • Barriers to Housing and Services
  • Crime
  • Education Skills and Training
  • Employment
  • Health and Disability
  • Income
  • Income Deprivation affecting Children
  • Income Deprivation affecting Older People
  • Living and Environment
  • Multiple Deprivation
