Leicestershire Job Postings

The charts use EMSI economic modelling data to provide data on the trend in the number of live job adverts . The data is not intended to be fully comprehensive (e.g. some jobs are never advertised, vacancies may not be removed immediately when filled). However, this is a useful measure to track trends over time. The graphs focus on change from the previous year.

The Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE) dataset is released by ONS every Autumn. The survey is conducted in April each year to obtain information about the levels, distribution and make-up of earnings and hours worked for employees.
This data set provides information about earnings of employees who are living or working in an area, who are on adult rates and whose pay for the survey pay-period was not affected by absence.

ASHE is based on a sample of employee jobs taken from HM Revenue & Customs PAYE records. Information on earnings and hours is obtained in confidence from employers. ASHE does not cover the self-employed nor does it cover employees not paid during the reference period.

Gross Disposable Household Income (GDHI)

Gross disposable household income (GDHI) is the amount of money that all of the individuals in the household sector have available for spending or saving after they have paid direct and indirect taxes and received any direct benefits. GDHI is a concept that is seen to reflect the "material welfare" of the household sector.

It should be noted that these estimates relate to totals for all individuals within the household sector for a region rather than to an average household or family unit. GDHI per head are estimates of values for each person, not each household.

The data covers employment in Leicestershire and Leicester, as well as regional comparators and can be accessed via an interactive dashboard available at the link below.
