Leicester and Leicestershire Business Survey 2011

About This Report:

The Leicester and Leicestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has published the latest edition of the Leicester and Leicestershire Business Survey. The business survey has been carried out by a partnership involving Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City Council and other key local agencies since 1994.

The survey provides a comprehensive picture of local business optimism and performance. Interviews were conducted in January 2011 to provide an update on views of local business in the current economic climate, while continuing to monitor issues such as skills shortages and training. In addition, this survey has gathered intelligence on topics of local interest including investment in research and development, recruitment difficulties, skills shortages, transport issues and the level of home-working.

The survey was conducted by telephone with a sample size of 1,012 businesses across Leicester City and Leicestershire County, with at least 90 interviews in each Local Authority District, providing a robust source of evidence. The LEP will be using the findings from this survey along with its more detailed Local Economic Assessment to shape future strategy and investment decisions.
